You are never fully dressed without a perfect smile, but only a cosmetic dentist understands that sometimes, it is essential to address specific issues to get a perfect smile. Cosmetic dentistry effectively treats discoloured, deformed teeth and even closes gaps by using advanced tools to enhance your smile. However, it benefits from knowing a few facts before deciding to pay a visit to the dentist.

Contrary to the common fears that one may have, cosmetic dentistry does not involve elaborate procedures; it is relatively pain-free and improves overall dental health. Based on your teeth overall condition, a cosmetic dentist could suggest a cost-effective option for you. Some options could be done in just one sitting and give long-lasting results.

Cosmetic dentistry gives very effective results for common problems with teeth. A cosmetic dentist can effectively transform the appearance of the teeth restoring them to perfection.  Relying on expert advice regarding the best procedure for the teeth always helps; however, some of the common procedures are discussed here:

Whitening of the Teeth

Teeth tend to become stained over time, primarily because of smoking and having beverages like coffee or tea; certain medications may also be responsible for discoloured teeth. Using a chemical procedure, dentists can effectively bring the original shine in just one or two sittings.

The dentist may also provide a system to clean at home but take a month to show results. Avoiding habits that stain the teeth and maintaining good oral hygiene like brushing teeth twice a day, flossing and rinsing with antiseptic mouthwash could prevent the teeth’ staining.

Bonding to Fill the Gaps

Bonding is done to fill out excess spaces between the teeth or in case of broken, chipped, stained or cracked teeth. It can effectively fill up small cavities and protect the exposed root of the tooth. This procedure can take one or two sittings.

Bonding is a long-lasting and durable solution; however, it needs proper care to avoid chipping and staining of the teeth or wearing down of the teeth. It is a cost-effective solution and gives effective results in a single sitting.

Porcelain Veneer and Crowns

Veneers are custom shells made of porcelain to cover the teeth front to cover the discoloured, chipped, and poorly shaped teeth. On the other hand, Crowns cover the entire teeth restoring the original shape of the teeth and protecting the teeth from further damage.

Veneers are long-lasting compared to bonding and provide a superior appearance to the teeth. Crowns are expensive procedures and are suggested only when other procedures are not likely to give effective results.

Conclusion

There are many other procedures like bridges, braces, implants, enamel shaping and contouring and other periodontal plastic procedures. Choosing the correct procedure could be confusing; it is best to seek expert advice to choose the proper procedure for your dental condition. You can rest assured of adequate resolution to your teeth related concerns.
